The
Restaurant
Unlike more contemporary lounges devoted to champagne
and luxury cuisine, Caviarteria presents its extraordinary
menu with few airs. The small, wood-paneled midtown
location holds a takeout counter filled with tins
of caviar and foie gras, a bar that seats six, several
tables and a velvety-boothed vestibule for groups.
Service is knowledgeable and cordial. The Food
Sample a quarter-ounce each of sevruga (firm and salty),
osetra and beluga (the largest, creamiest eggs) with
crème fraiche and toast points. Lower-priced
domestic caviars include American sturgeon caspian
style and the orange Carolina trout roe, complemented
by buckwheat blinis. Smoked salmon, tender Kobe beef
carpaccio and tasting platters with foie gras and
gamy wild boar are also worth a try.

offered here make surprisingly affordable treats...the
platter of Oscetra Smoked Scottish Salmon with Russian
Buckwheat Pancakes for two is terrific...the Crepe
filled with a half ounce of Oscetra is as good a value
as buying Gucchi wholesale..."

keep in mind, our Retail Emporium (also at 1012 Lexington
Avenue) offers a variety of caviar, smoked salmon
