Great Chinese fare in a refined midtown environment.

The Scene
The bustling dining room is cleanly decorated, with white walls, polished wood and black-and-white framed photographs. Waiters move with blinding speed, taking and delivering orders with a brusque approximation of courtesy. The clientele is made up of biggish spenders who enjoy the full bar and don't mind the immoderate prices, or special-occasion diners who wanted elegance and insisted on Chinese.

The culinary history of Phenomenal at Chin Chin is vividly evident when one sees the family pictures that grace the walls at Jimmy Chin's 17-year-old family-run mainstay.

The Food
This menu attempts to take Chinese food upscale with re-invented classics, like savory shark-fin soup and supple, greaseless tea-smoked duck. The Peking duck prix fixe, which comes with a hearty complement of sides, starters and extras for $38, is a sure winner. The scallion pancakes are good, and dumplings are yummy. friendly service, "posh" ambience and most importantly the food here. Try the veal medallions with peppercorn sauce it's out of this world.

Chin Chin welcomes requests for banquets, private parties, and outside catering. There are two dining rooms available for private parties. The smaller of the two can accommodate a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 people. The larger can accommodate a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 55. The charge will include the listed price point per person for the party, plus drinks, tax, and 20% gratuities. A $300.00 deposit is required to hold your reservation for a private room. All cancellations must be made seven days prior to the event or the deposit will be forfeited.

Excellent food, quick service, polite waiters, friendly hosts, great ambience, very reasonably priced considering it's a chic midtown restaurant that a good number of celebrities frequent.
