TIRAMISU

version of tiramisu does to you, the original Veniero's
recipe for the true tiramisu cake. You will feel Italian
espresso, of course, mocha cream, for sure, whipped
cream, certainly.

A dense tart shell lined with homemade raspberry jam,
filled with a creamy delicious vanilla custard and topped
with fresh fruits.

wafer, crunchy Quaresimali, spumenti (a crunchy

Having just past its 110 Year Anniversary, this famous landmark was established in 1894 by its founder, Antonio Veniero. When he operated his establishment, it was a pool emporium and café where he served his baked products to his customers. Later, the demand for his Italian pastries and cakes won him awards in Rome, Bolognia, and at the New York World’s Fair.

Try the lush ricotta cheesecake and you'll know why people have been lining up here for 100 years.
Choose from 40 feet of sweets at the takeout counter, or get a table inside one of two dining rooms. Marble floors and stamped metal ceilings do nothing to soften the caffeine- and sugar-charged chatter, but Veniero's is a popular stop for the dating crowd. Look your best--the lighting is quite harsh and there are lots of mirrors.

The Food
Italian pastry of the sponge-cake variety soaked in rum or liqueur and filled with custard, whipped cream or sweet ricotta cheese. Tiramisu, the ubiquitous lady finger and mascarpone dessert, is still better here than most anywhere else. Wash it down with the very good espresso; do likewise with the cannolis. The baba rum comes in three flavors--sweet, sweeter and sweetest--and there are half dozen styles of cheesecake.

MUST TRY CHOCOLATE MOUSSE, its AWINNER

Today the Pastry shop and café has many of its original details, including hand stamped metal ceilings, specially designed etched glass doors, highly polished wood mirrors, and ornate marble floors (which has since been restored after almost a century of wear).

Upon entering the pastry shop, you are greeted by a wonderful display of traditional and regional Italian confections, a vast variety of large and miniature pastries, and assortments of hand-made Italian butter cookies. Take in the aroma of the freshly baked biscotti (Italian biscuits) as well as the traditional cheese cakes and specialty cakes. A full 40 feet of pleasure for the dessert lover!
