adä occupies two floors of a four story brownstone located between 2nd and 3rd Avenues on 58th Street. Double pane of glass spanning the two stories along with brass work marks the atrium where gem like ornaments are displayed - hand blown colorful murano chandeliers.
The dining room consists of banquettes wrapped in cool silver and gray fabric. As far as the walls are concerned, the owner David R. Shah has long felt that dance is an expression of 'style and elegance - adä". Hence, the walls are decorated with bas-relief work which consists of various sculptures of dance poses which were posed for, sculpted and then hand painted after being mounted on the wall. Additionally, Pickard China, Guy DeGrenne flatware, Rosenthal votives and fine crystal fill a room adorned by a wood-burning fire place that creates an ambience which is best described as serene.

It's Indian with a French touch, aimed at softening the edge of Indian food. In dishes like salmon tikka, lamb stew and ginger lamb chops, rich spicing takes a back seat to prim presentation. It's not a case of faulty execution; it's a question of whether the French influence adds anything substantive to the equation.

At adä, Chef Rana runs a tight ship. Although our kitchen is moderately small in size, what goes on behind those doors is quite immeasurable. We offer an extensive menu for both lunch and dinner and thanks to Chef Rana our guests are never unresponsive. He is able to blend the traditional and conventional tastes of India whilst adding something to the mix to keep your attention, all without confusing the palate. He is inventive without mystifying.

Ada offers a private dining room accommodating up to 100 guests. Superb Indian fare coupled with excellent service for any celebration you may have.
