| Cilantro
opened its first location at East 89th Street in September
of 1998. Among its many wonderful features is a rustic,
secluded dining room, which leads out to a cozy, romantic
garden. The perfect escape from the busy flow of the
Upper East Side
Cilantro's boasts
large helpings, complimentary Spanish rice, and soft
tacos with chunky guacamole, sour cream, and chopped
tomatoes that will keep you and your refrigerator
stuffed for days. Try the chicken enchilada, wrapped
in a blue corn tortilla and smothered in cheese, or
the shrimp fajita served on a skewer over onions,
green peppers, and radicchio and covered in cilantro
for a spicy kick. Like it hot? Go for the spicy habanero
wings, the operative word being "spicy."
Cilantro's has great
food and exceptionally good atmosphere, an outside
seating area, simple but uniquely decorated.
The habanero wings
are very good, the nachos are very tasty, as well
as the nicoise salad, well executed flank steak, and
the sangria is out of this world. In all, great food
coupled with warm and attentive service makes this
place good spot for second visit.
The fresh watermelon
margarita! Is reason enough to patronize this tex-mex
joint! Their food is also delicious and reasonably
priced... i have never had anything but good results
w/their takeout as well. Their fajitas are so plentiful
that my boyfriend and I split an order (making it
even cheaper!) Viva el Cilantro!!!
