KATZ'S DELI
205 E Houston St. New York, NY 10002-1098
Cross Street: Ludlow Street
(212) 254-2246
Katz's Deli is frequented by regulars who've been coming for decades, as well as tourists and regulars; occasionally, you might get a glimpse of a celebrity. Since its establishment in the 1890s, the deli has changed very little in appearance, retaining a grungy sheen. Get a ticket on the way in for counter service, or seat yourself at a table to be waited on.
Katz's serves up thousands of pounds of corned beef salami and hot dogs a week--the old-fashioned way. Excellent pastrami and Reuben sandwich.

SECOND AVENUE DELI
156 Second Ave. New York, NY 10003
(212) 677-0606
New York's temple to corned beef, pastrami, home of the chicken soup an kugel. Service is good as well as the portions.
