Dawat offers crweative fusion Indian food cooked with culinary artistry and wisdom. The place is a relentlessly friendly, and the exotic array of dishes inspired by Madhur Jaffrey, actress and cookbook author makes this gem one of NYC's best Indian- vegan spot.
The eclectic menu comprises of dishes like bhel poori, flavorfu melange of puffed rice, wheat chips, fresh coriander and assorted hot and sweet chutneys. Main courses are as generous as they are varied--a signature dish is the Parsi-style salmon, in which the fish is rubbed with a tart coriander chutney, wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed. A pallet pleasing dish of shrimp cooked with garlic, ginger and assorted spices.
