The extravagance food begin with blinis, the Russian national dish: Warm buckwheat pancakes filled with generous helpings of sour cream and caviar. From here, move on to the zakuska appetizer platter, the Russian equivalent of tapas or dim sum. As far as entrees go, a giant tureen of borscht, heady with pork and dill, is an excellent.

Veselka's 24-hour kitchen is an attraction for East Village late night dinners looking for a hearty food and very accommodating Eastern European waitstaff.
