This place is as authentic as many of the lovely restaurants IN Sweden. The herring appetizer comes with 4 or 5 different types of fish and a boiled potato, it was tasty and big enough for 2. The laxpudding, or a salmon and potato tort, it was perfect, not too rich, with a lovely flavor of dill. The meatballs were as close as you can get to Stockholm. The cloudberry martini was a lovely way to kick things off and chocolate sampler a great way to finish off. The service here is young and super friendly.

At this popular Midtown Scandinavian restaurant Chef Marcus Samuelson cooking is a combination of Swedish and modern food, but Mr. Samuelson has his own interpretation for his cooking, preparing superb Salmon Herring and Swedish bouillabaisse. The service is outstanding. And don’t forget to ask for help in choosing among the list’s many aquavits, which are like flavored vodkas.
