In 1998, Danny Meyer opened one of the city's most awe-inspiring
dining rooms, with soaring ceilings, deco details, butter-soft
black banquettes and spectacular two-story windows that
seem to embrace tree-lined Madison Park. At this plac
everybody gets treated like royalty by well polished staff.
Kerry Heffernan's brave New Continental menu couldn't
be more at home here. Sweet onion consommé with
creamy St. Andre ravioli, airy bread pudding alongside
paper-thin jamon de Bayonne and cauliflower flan rimmed
with barely-seared calamari are bold and balanced starters.
Well executed pan-seared fluke with juniper studded choucroute,
and bone-in brown butter and caper.
TABLA A stunning setting for suave, professional
service and creative cooking accompanied by Indian culinary
creativity.
Met Life Tower jewel, the restaurant's soaring staircase.
The bi-level second-floor dining room has relaxed atmosphere.
Professional and engaging service creates a very pleasant
dining experience. Well executed dishes like, roast
chicken scented with cumin jus and anise, succulent
lamb enlivened by acutely tuned fruity curry flavor.
A whole apple filled with roasted vegetables and scented
with Roquefort for a starter, as does a handsomely composed
crab and avocado salad with tamarind chutney in a papadum
shell. Must try desserts, like a cone of stiff kulfi
with licorice, cinnamon souffle.
